What do artificial intelligence, artistic expression, and Eastern philosophy have in common? Love Letters without the Recipient unites these three elements in one installation. A typewriter, powered by generative software, creates ephemeral love letters. The common theme of these automated texts is self-connection and the impermanence found in Zen philosophy. The letters reflect the emptiness of human desire and are set against a backdrop of wood and natural materials. Like nature in Eastern aesthetics, the work embraces and gives expression to purposeless emotions.

Bio

Ziyao Lin (Province of Guangdong, 1999) is a Chinese artist based in the United Kingdom. She graduated from the Central Academy in Beijing and specialized in Digital Media at Goldsmiths in London. She is currently a PhD candidate at Loughborough University. Her work employs digital art tools, experimental videos, and installations to explore the relationship between humans and nature, the ethical dilemmas of technology, and the intimate aspects of individual psychology.
